We celebrated the start of the Olympics by heading out to Colorado Springs for the United States Olympic Committee event where 15,000 people gathered to watch the opening ceremonies. Bret and I got to light the torch at the Olympic Festival and we were so proud to be participating in an event benefiting the agencies that assisted in the Waldo Canyon fires.
I am beyond excited to celebrate the start of the Games with the Opening Ceremonies tonight. Looking back as an athlete, it is still one of my fondest memories of my 1992 experience. The thrill of meeting so many fellow athletes, as well as the pride of marching into the stadium amongst the roar of support for team USA was exhilarating. I remember wanting to do a second lap around the stadium! I can't wait to see the anticipation & hope in the eyes of the athletes tonight - hope for a life long dream to be realized. The world will be watching and this is their moment. I wish every single athlete a heartfelt wish of luck. Let the Games Begin!!!
My 3 favorite events?
· Swimming – I look forward to watching the events Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte will be competing in. I’ll also be cheering on a local Bay area athlete and a fellow Dancing With The Stars contestant Natalie Coughlin
· Gymnastics - My all-time favorite event of the Summer Olympics to watch would have to be gymnastics. I am eager to watch young and talented athlete Jordyn Weiber compete as well as the entire USA women's team.
